Honestly talking, I am not the one to advise people where and how to play this type of bhajans. For me, I will just find the notes and play it somewhere, wherever the singer is singing, but as I promised my dear "nmirel" to talk about it; then alright, my kind respect to my listeners:
First and foremost, consider that there are various types of this bhajan. They are not variations, but types and I mean it. So first choose your fave style. Russian Style can be found in audio album "Ambika". Australian Version is also a famous one. What I can play is the old version which is maybe the simplified version. Any way:
-Blogger's idea: Start it from D (it will be D|minor): nice tune, smooth voice; but not power full as such !
-Mr. Ratio's* idea : chords will be played as following; A D G D. Wow! just great, but I can't sing that high, specially the antraas (versus).
-Australin Version : Same place, different melody and tune.
-Ambika : same tune and of course Russian version (which is nice!)
Can add any new version, please comment it here on this post.
This sample is the Australian version, for those who want to hear it ;
* Mr. Ratio is a Sahaja yogi from Germany, who is proffessional musicion, and he wrote a wonder full book on Sahaj bhajans with the notation and chords. What he offers is absolute as far as the scientific western music is concern.
thank you so much for this amazing (heartfelt, honest and clear-cut) explanation!~
ReplyDeletethank you for remembering me!
Music has a way of carrying these Divine Vibrations which makes us derive and distribute joy!
listening through our chakras not just through ears,
feeling the joy flowing through our being while the energy, vibrations and frequency of Indian classical music match with the energy of the chakras....
I truly enjoy and respect all variations, all types of the sahaj bhajans, qawwalis and performing sahaj musicians. all have their unique sparks, magic touch
I wont attempt to describe the bhajans musically in western terms any further because it is not defined by any musical characteristics; it is defined by a sense of devotion.
wishing you all a summertime filled with music~!
you are the most welcome & thanks for nice wish about the summer !
